课程名称：Physical Activity Epidemiology

课程内容：

A. Description

This a 2-week intense course that isdesigned to give graduate students from a variety of disciplines (medicine,nursing, psychology, physical education, exercise science) a broad introductionto the role of physical activity in relation to public health and researchmethodologies commonly used to conduct physical activity epidemiologicalstudies.

B. Organization

This is primarily a lecture course inwhich topics are presented by the instructor who will lecture the coursepredominantly in English. A course outline is available and distributed beforethe start of the course and used primarily for familiarity of various topics tobe covered during the course. Student participation and contribution to adiscussion of particular topic during each class are strongly encouraged aspart of the learning process.

C. Objectives

The course has the following broadobjectives:

ntoorient students to the range of concepts related to physical activity and itsrelation to health and chronic diseases

ntounderstand the prevalence of chronic disease and physical activity in China andglobally

ntounderstand correlates and determinants of physical activity at different levelsand in different contexts

ntofamiliarize with physical activity measures and surveillance

ntodescribe various intervention strategies that make impact on modifying diseaseconditions

nto describestudy designs and research methodologies commonly used in physical activityepidemiology and provide students with opportunities to develop basic researchskills with respect to some of the fundamental statistical procedures.

E. Evaluation

n classattendance – 50%

nactively engaging in in-class discussion – 20%

n a15-minutes presentation in English on an agreeable topic with the instructor –30%

李甫中高级研究员简介：FuzhongLi, Ph.D., is a senior scientist at the Oregon Research Institute in Eugene,Oregon. His substantive research areas include physical activity epidemiology,postural control, and cognition in older adults and people with neurologicaldisorders. Dr. Li has a brief history working and collaborating with studentsand faculty members at the Shanghai University of Sport in the area of physicalactivity research involving older adults and people with chronic diseaseconditions.
